On 1 February, 17 people were arrested following a large-scale military raid in Sasawa village in Yapen island. While others have been released, seven men were charged with conspiracy to commit treason under Articles 106 and 110, rebellion under Article 108 of the Indonesian Criminal Code and possession of weapons under the Emergency Law 12/1951. The seven men faced torture on arrest.
