Yahukimo arrests

On 21 May, human rights activist Lendeng Omu was beaten and arrested by Yahukimo Regional police who stopped and questioned him about his affiliations with the KNPB. Local villagers burned down a police post in Yahukimo in retribution to this arrest. On 4 June, without any credible basis, the Head of the Yali tribe in Yahukimo, Alapia Yalak, and an unnamed young man were arrested for this act of arson.
