Fourteen people were arrested in a demonstration on 1 May as they tried to unfurl the banned Morning Star flag in Sentani at the grave of Theys Eluay, a Papuan leader killed in 2001. The demonstration was demanding protection for human rights. Two of the fourteen were held and charged with treason.
