Apedo Doo was arrested on 23rd March 2021. He and his university colleagues were arrested by the police for organising peaceful protest demanding the Indonesian government to allow the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights to visit West Papua. They also display the banned symbol of Morning Flag. They were detained at Polres Jayapura for questioning before released in less than 24 hours.
