Etius Baye was one of the 8 West Papuan villagers who were arrested on 19 August 2021 by the joint security forces when conducting raids in the town of Dekai, Yahukimo Regency. They have been detained at the Yahukimo District Police station in Dekai. Witnessed believed that they are being detained under the suspicion of their affiliation with TPNPB.
