Ruland Karafir was arrested on 3rd March 2021. He and his friends are member of AMP in Jakarta. They were arrested in their dormitory and accused committing ill-treatment against a person, a claim which they denied. Their lawyer believes it’s a criminalisation for their recent activities campaigning the rejection of the revision plan of the Special Autonomy Law for Papua. Until March 3rd he was still waiting for trial. In trial the Prosecutors demanded 7 months but the court gave a verdict of 5 months sentence. On 3 August 2021 he was released.
