Simon Waymbewer and Maikel Yaam were arrested by members of the 762/VYS military battalion and the 1809 Maybrat Military Command (Kodim 1809 Maybrat) in a military raid in Kisor village and surrounding after four members of the Indonesian military were killed on 2nd of September 2021. He was released on 5 September 2021, after being detained and questioned briefly. Simon Waubewer was reportedly tortured during the arrest.
