Yanto Awerkion was arrested by the police in Timika on the 8th of January 2019 for taking part in a gathering on 30th of December 2018 in the KNPB Timika branch office. He was arrested along with Sem Asso and Emanuel Dogopia. They were all charged with treason. Emanuel Dogopia was sentenced to 1 year in prison. He has since been released after serving the full term of his sentence.
