Mr Aliknoe is a student at Universitas Papua. He both assisted in the organisation of and participated in a Free West Papua protest in Manokwari on 3 September 2019, including by delivering speeches at the protest. Two Morning Star flags were flying during this protest, which was part of the broader political uprising which swept across West Papua from 19 August to 23 September 2019. He was arrested by Manokwari Police Resort without a warrant. He was charged with Articles 106 and 110, Articles 160 and 212 jo 213 of the Criminal Code. The trial for his case took place on 13th February where prosecutors demanded 10 months of imprisonment for incitement and treason however he was sentenced to 9 months only for incitement. He was released in June 2020 after serving full term of his sentence.
