Sasawa military raid arrests

On 1 February 2014, 17 people were arrested following a large-scale military raid in Sasawa village in Yapen island. While most were released, seven men were charged with conspiracy to commit treason and rebellion under Articles 106,110 and 108of the Indonesian Criminal Code, and possession of weapons under Emergency Law 12/1951. The seven men were tortured on arrest.
