Yogor Telenggen is a member of the West Papua National Liberation Army, who has a track record of resistance since 2011.

Yogor, aka Yoman and also known as “Kartu Kuning”, was arrested for the first time by Jayapura police on March 10, 2013, on the charges of Pirime Police Precinct attack on November 27, 2012. On his way to the police station, Yogor was beaten on the face and six times on his back with the butt of the firearms. Yogor’s family was reportedly not notified of the arrest.

On June 15, 2014, Yogor was sentenced to 10 years in prison, where two days later he was again convicted and received a life sentence for murder and violence in the 27 November 2012 incident. Less than two years serving his sentence in Abepura Prison, Yogor fled on 8 January 2016.

On May 12, 2018, Yogor was arrested again in Usir village, Mulia District, Puncak Jaya Regency, Nabire. His right knee was shot during the arrest, he was then taken to Bhayangkara hospital for treatment. His whereabouts were unknown for almost one month after his arrest. Yogor and his family did not receive an Arrest Order from the authorities. Had been in detention at the Manokwari District Prosecutor’s Office, Yogor was then taken to the Mako detention centre of the West Papua Regional Police Mobile Brigade. Yogor was detained on new charges, shootings and the stealing of firearms that took place at Sinak Market, Puncak Jaya Regency on February 12, 2018.

His trial session was held at the Manokwari District Court and not in the Nabire where he was arrested, “for security reason”. He was given life sentence.  It is reported that since 25 May 2020 Yogor has been detained in Gunung Sari Class I Prison in Makasar. His transfer from West Papua was without the knowledge of his family.
