Soon Tabuni was arrested on 27 May 2020 in Timika with the suspicion of the violation of the exchange of Information and other electronic transaction, ITE law. Tabuni posted an information on his social media account regarding a shooting incident which took place in Intan Jaya which involved the Indonesian security forces. Tabuni remains in detention. His case is currently in the prosecution stage by the district attorney.
